Come and explore who Jesus is at his core and the difference he makes to our lives.
The Heart of Jesus – Sunday Services
|Desire||Sunday 25 July|
|Jesus described himself as “gentle and lowly”. He is not harsh, reactionary, easily exasperated. He is the most understanding person in the universe. And he is accessible. It is the most counterintuitive aspect of Christianity: that we are declared right with God not once we begin to get our act together but once we collapse into honest acknowledgment that we never will.|
|Anguish||Sunday 1 August|
|Jesus’ deepest anguish is the anguish of others. Time and time again it is the morally disgusting, the socially reviled, the inexcusable and undeserving, who do not simply receive Christ’s mercy but to whom Christ most naturally gravitates. When Jesus sees the fallenness of the world all about him, his deepest impulse, his most natural instinct, is to move toward that sin and suffering, not away from it.|
|Joy||Sunday 8 August|
|Jesus’ own joy, comfort, happiness, and glory are increased and enlarged by his showing grace and mercy, in pardoning, relieving and comforting us. Jesus gets more joy and comfort than we do when we come to him for help and mercy. He does not get flustered and frustrated when we come to him for fresh forgiveness, for renewed pardon, with distress and need and emptiness.|
Spend some time with people of faith, as we look inside the heart of Jesus. We’ll look deep inside who Jesus is and what drives him through the accounts of his life in the Bible. You won’t regret coming to church one of these Sundays because as you look at the heart of Jesus, you see the heart of God.
