Although the phrase “last days” might make us think of some chaotic period in the far-off future, the Bible writers repeatedly label as “last days” the era we’re living in now – the whole period from Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem until his coming again in glory. In this sermon we consider the warnings and encouragements given by Paul the apostle to his young assistant Timothy about life and ministry in the “last days”. Christian believers today are not in the exact same situation as the early Christian leader Timothy. But as we read this ancient letter we can discover some things that we today should still be realistic about, and some things we should rely on as we live as God’s people in the last days.
