Everyone wants to know what love is. Love is as important to life as oxygen is to lungs. And yet we often struggle to find real love and live it out.
As we look at 1 John 3 we will examine two fundamental questions:
- What is real love?
- What impact should real love have on our lives?
John writes (v16),
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.
This verse provides us with a succinct and profound answer to our first question.
The second half of the verse provides us with an answer to the second question.
And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
It is unlikely that any of us in Sydney 2019 will be asked to literally die for others, but what will it mean for Christians as we seek to live God honouring lives? What is the most loving thing we can do for others?
