Humanity: From dust to glory

Humanity: From dust to glory

“What sort of freak then is man!  How novel, how monstruous, how chaotic, how paradoxical, how prodigious!  Judge of all things, feeble earth-worm, repository of truth, sink of doubt and error, glory and refuse of the universe… Man’s greatness and wretchedness are so evident that the true religion must necessarily teach us that there is in man some great principle of greatness and some great principle of wretchedness!”

Blaise pascal

What does it mean to be a human being?

Everyone has an answer to this question, whether they can spell it out in words or not.

In term 3 2023 we’re going to trace through the Bible to discover what God made us to be, what’s gone wrong, how God is making things right, and where hope and purpose are to be found.

During this series of five topical sermons, small groups will be focussing in on one part of the Bible – the book of Psalms. These texts are uniquely the voice of human experience and fruitful territory for pondering the human condition with its joys, tears, dignity and frustration.
